Dept. of Commerce: Gov. Doyle Announces Funding For SMT Engineering LLC

MADISON-Gov. Jim Doyle today that SMT Engineering , LLC, Grand Chute, Outagamie County, in the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership (NEWREP) Technology Zone, will receive $81,000 in Technology Zone tax credits.

“Through my Grow Wisconsin 2005 Agenda we are working hard to invest in our economy by helping companies expand and upgrade their technologies,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased that we can help SMT Engineering, LLC, create jobs and invest in ways to remain competitive.”

SMT Engineering, LLC, offers electronic hardware, software and circuit-board design services. It is investing $230,000 to remodel and upgrade equipment at its facility. The project will create up to nine jobs and retain six jobs.

The NEWREP Technology Zone provides incentives for high-tech growth in Engineering/Design, Electronics, and Wood/Forestry related products, among others. The NEWREP Technology Zone includes the counties of Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago.
