MADISON – Businesses interested in developing export sales with Canada will want to attend the Exporting to Canada: Beginning on Your Doorstep workshop to be held at Hereford and Hops in Wausau on Sept. 29 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

“Canada is Wisconsin’s best international customer and the destination for over one-third of the state’s exports,” said Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Mary P. Burke. “It is frequently the first country targeted by new exporters as well as a strong market for established exporters. This workshop will provide the opportunity for businesses to learn how to begin or expand an export initiative.”

The workshop will address topics such as delivery options and documentation; why Canada is an optimum market for beginners; and tariffs and other taxes. The workshop will feature speakers from the Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Border Services, Wisconsin Trade Office in Toronto, and the private sector.

The cost of attending is $50 per person, which includes seminar sessions, additional take home reference material, and lunch. Participants must register by Sept. 22.

For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Stanley Pfrang, Commerce, at 608/267-0639 or spfrang@commerce.state.wi.us.
