Madison — A total of 1,684,937 passengers traveled through the Dane County
Regional Airport in 2004. This represents the greatest total annual
passenger activity in the airport’s history surpassing last year’s record of
1,597,570 by 5.5%.
“Dane County Regional Airport continues to outperform the national average
when it comes to passenger growth,” said Dane County Executive Kathleen
Falk. “Improvements to the airport, a good local economy and strong local
airline competition all help.”
The Airport added non-stop flights four times per week to Las Vegas by
Allegiant Airlines in October in response to strong passenger demand to that
city.
Dane County Regional Airport terminal expansion and modernization work
continues. The five-year, sixty-five million dollar project that will be
completed this year was funded by Airport revenues — no property taxes —
will double the existing terminal space by November of this year.
Additionally a twenty-eight million dollar runway safety area project
commenced this week.
