The City of Brookfield Common Council and Economic Development Committee
jointly awarded the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce with the City’s
Third Quarter 2005 Featured Business Award on December 6, 2005, at the City
of Brookfield Common Council Meeting.

At its November meeting, the Economic Development Committee chose the
Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the Third
Quarter 2005 Featured Business Award. The Chamber of Commerce has shown
profitable growth, innovation, dedication to total quality, and a
commitment to Brookfield.

The offices of the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce are located at
1305 N. Barker Road. Serving the Greater Brookfield Area since 1957, the
Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce is an active partner in the
continued economic growth and success of the community. The Chamber was
established as a 501(c)3 private not-for-profit corporation, and its
mission statement is: “The Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce will be
recognized as the Voice of Business partnering with our members and our
community to promote Brookfield as the premier location for economic
development and quality of life.” Company membership in the Chamber
includes over 550 companies from Southeastern Wisconsin, with approximately
60% representing the local Brookfield area. Over the past several years,
the Chamber has experienced an annual growth rate in membership of 15-20%.

The Chamber operates with an active committee structure, wherein Chamber
Board Members and a group of committed Chamber members organize outstanding
business events and networking opportunities for area companies, providing
an environment in which business can flourish. Chamber committees include
an Ambassador’s Club, Golf Committee, Business After Five/Program
Committee, Annual Dinner Meeting and Silent Auction Committee, Active
Business Leads Exchange (ABLE), Legislative Committee, Economic Development
Committee, and Membership Committee. The Chamber also offers a
Manufacturing and Industrial Council for its manufacturing sector members.
Each of these committees create strategies and plan events to actively
promote chamber services and business development opportunities in a fun
and productive environment.

The Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce has also recognized the value in
creating collaborative partnerships with other organizations in the
Milwaukee Metropolitan Area. In partnership with other chambers of
commerce in Milwaukee County and Waukesha County, the Brookfield Chamber
offers Active Business Leads Exchange (ABLE) breakfast networking events
with chamber members from West Allis, West Suburban (Wauwatosa),
Oconomowoc, Hartland, Delafield, Pewaukee, and Sussex. Additionally, the
Brookfield Chamber participates in a Regional Chamber Coalition as a
sponsoring organization to the Business Health Care Group of Southeast
Wisconsin, in an effort to promote market-driven health care. These
partnerships with other chambers expand the reach, influence, and
visibility of the Brookfield Chamber and provide additional benefits to its
membership.

The Brookfield Chamber’s profitable growth, innovation, dedication to total
quality, and a commitment to Brookfield make it a deserving candidate for
Brookfield’s featured business award.
