Energy Efficient Lighting Project Equivalent to Removing 4,272 Cars
from Road

West Bend, WI. Regal Ware, a manufacturer of high quality stainless
house wares for direct sales and commercial markets, announced the
completion of an energy-efficient lighting project in its 553,000
square feet manufacturing facility in West Bend, WI. Regal Ware
expects to save over 1.5 kilowatts hours (kWh) annually and over 30
million kWh over the sustainable lifetime of the lighting fixtures.
This reduction will take enough power off the electrical grid to
provide enough electricity to power 219 homes or a bedroom community
of over 876 people, according to the EPA formula.

The environmental impact of Regal Ware’s energy-efficient lighting
project will decrease air pollution and environmental damage over the
lifetime of Orion’s fixture, the Illuminator, by 22,620 tons of
carbon dioxide, 6,169 tons of carbon, 83 tons of sulfur dioxide, 193
tons of nitrous oxides, and 3 pounds of mercury. This is the
equivalent of saving 2.74 million gallons of gas or planting 5,534
acres of trees.

The lighting project was managed by Ener-Save of West Bend and
supplied by Orion Energy Systems of Plymouth, Wisconsin. The payback
on the project is under two years with an annual savings of $110,00
not including the substantial savings of lower maintenance costs
going forward.

“We have been able to provide huge cost savings for Regal Ware. The
new lighting has changed the entire workplace environment in their
plant,” said Neal Verfuerth, President of Orion Energy Systems.
“Regal Ware is an shining example of what a Wisconsin company can do
to remain competitive. They have combined operations here in West
Bend to improve manufacturing efficiencies and now they have cut
their large lighting bill in half. We are proud to help a state
company like Regal Ware with their on-going efforts to control costs,
improve productivity and stay competitive.”

As an emerging Wisconsin company, Orion Energy Systems has received
the prestigious Spirit of Ecology Award at the 32nd Annual Governor’s
New Product Award Program for the Illuminator. More recently, Orion
received the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Grand Award winner
for the Emerging Growth category by the Wisconsin Manufacturers and
Commerce and the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award.

“We have now doubled our light levels for our employees in the
workplace while using half the energy,” stated Mike Keller,
Electrical Engineer of Regal Ware. “After a year to study and test
various new energy efficient lighting technology, we chose Orion’s
Illuminator for our facility in West Bend. Being a Wisconsin company
like ourselves, we felt Orion would be able to provide the kind of
service and product delivery we needed to make this project a
success. This energy efficient lighting project is a beautiful thing.
We were able to save a large amount of money, significantly improve
the lighting for our employees, and at the same time have a very
positive impact on West Bend and Wisconsin’s environment.”
