Platypus Technologies Receives DARPA Phase II SBIR

Platypus Technologies has received a two year Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA) for $750,000. Rapid viral diagnostics that are portable, inexpensive, and simple to use are urgently needed to investigate disease outbreaks and bioterrorism threats. This contract is for development of a prototype device to address these needs. In 2004, Platypus Technologies has received a total of $3.29 million in SBIR funding. Platypus Technologies was founded in 2000 to develop nanotechnology products for the physical and life sciences. The Company has 20 employees and is located in the University Research Park.
