International “vignette” encouraging investment in Wisconsin to air in 150+ countries and territories
Madison – Over 100 million households worldwide will have the opportunity to see Wisconsin as not only a great place to play golf, but as an excellent place to invest and do business, when they tune in to watch the 86th PGA Championship later this month. The Wisconsin Department of Commerce and Forward Wisconsin have partnered to create a 30-second “vignette” that will air on the international television feed each day of the PGA Championship action being held at Whistling Straits golf course in Kohler. The tournament will take place August 9 – 15, with the tournament rounds being held on Thursday, August 12 through Sunday, August 15.
“The PGA Championship garners a huge television audience internationally that includes business executives and investors from throughout the world,” said Commerce Secretary Cory Nettles. “The television exposure Wisconsin will receive is invaluable and is an integral part of our international outreach efforts.”
The 30-second spot, which will be aired in several languages, is intended to promote Wisconsin as a destination for business expansion and investment. The ad features manufacturing and technology footage as well as video that conveys Wisconsin’s quality of life. The commentary notes that Wisconsin is north of Chicago and is a powerful place to invest. Viewers are invited to visit the state’s web site – Wisconsin.gov – for more information on the state.
“As a participant in the Governor’s China Mission and in regularly working with the many international consulates in Chicago, I see increasing international reverse investment opportunities for Wisconsin,” said Mike Armiak, Forward Wisconsin President. “It is key that Wisconsin is promoted as an investment and business expansion option internationally and the television coverage during the PGA Championship is an excellent time to do that.”
The Wisconsin Department of Commerce is the state’s primary agency for delivery of integrated services to business. Forward Wisconsin is the state’s public-private business marketing organization. Commerce and Forward Wisconsin are working cooperatively in implementing an economic development program specific to the PGA Championship event.
