Madison — Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has received $1,970,370 in National Emergency Grant Funds to assist workers from the following companies in South Central Wisconsin: CUNA and Affiliates/CUNA Mutual, Eldon Office Products, En Chem, Humana, Inc., Johnson Controls, J-Star, Kmart, Kohl’s Food Stores, Mayville Engineering, Nestles Purina Petcare/Friskies, Planar, TAB Products, Marshall Erdman, Maysteel, Rayovac and Perry Judd.
The funding will assist approximately 700 former workers of these facilities to find new jobs and is being provided to the South Central Workforce Development Board which serves Dane, Dodge, Sauk, Columbia, Jefferson and Marquette counties.
This is the second increment of an existing grant being operated by the South Central Workforce Development Board. The total funding for this grant is $4,126,936.
“Despite our recent positive economic news, some Wisconsin workers are still facing struggles getting back into the workforce,” Governor Jim Doyle said. “The funds will help these workers access job-related resources that will get them back on their feet and in a job that can support their families.”
