To further reduce its inventory, the State of Wisconsin will
sell more than 80 vehicles at a public auction on Saturday, November 13,
2004 at the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh. Scheduled to begin at 10:00
a.m., the sale is part of Governor Jim Doyle’s Fleet Reduction Initiative
that will return the state fleet to its 1994 level by eliminating more than
1,000 vehicles.

“State government must be run in the most efficient and
cost-effective manner possible,” Governor Doyle said. “This was not the
case in the 1990s and the state fleet grew to be too large. Selling these
surplus vehicles at auction gets them off of our books and ensures that
taxpayer dollars are used wisely.”

A public inspection of the vehicles will be held on Friday,
November 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 13 from
8:00 a.m. until the end of the auction. Interested bidders can begin
registering Friday.

In addition to the automobiles, three aluminum flat-bottom
boats and a small selection of tools, including a drill press and a table
saw, will also be auctioned. An itemized list of all auction items is
available at the Department of Administration’s Surplus Property Program Web
site at http://www.doa.state.wi.us/section_detail.asp?linkcatid=20. All
information is subject to change. Everything in the auction is sold “as is”
and “where is.”
