“THE SWEET SOUNDS OF SUCCESS AND SURVIVAL”
TO BENEFIT
FROEDTERT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION CANCER CENTER
Classical Music Concert, Silent Auction to support Oncology Programs
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (October 11, 2004) – World-renowned Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster and Violinist Frank Almond will perform on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield to benefit The Friends of Froedtert Hospital Foundation (FoFHF) in support of the Cancer Center.
This memorable evening is sponsored by Disciplined Financial Services, Inc. and the Melting Pot Restaurant, both based in Brookfield.
“The Friends of Froedtert Hospital Foundation is delighted to be the beneficiary of this special concert and evening hosted by area businesses,” said Thomas M. Plantenberg, CFRE, and FoFHF Executive Director/CEO. “The proceeds from this event will have a real and lasting impact on the lives of our patients and also make it possible to provide a range of innovations in patient care that would otherwise be unavailable.”
The semi-formal event commences at 6 p.m. with a cash bar cocktail reception and preview of exciting Silent Auction items. At 7 p.m. Almond will perform selections on a rare Stradivarius violin with pianist Elena Abend in a full recital. The evening will be topped off with a post-concert chocolate fondue reception where guests can also meet the musicians. Tickets are $25 and all net proceeds benefit FoFHF in support of the Cancer Center.
“I’m delighted and honored to be a part of such an important event that benefits the Friends of Froedtert Hospital Foundation in support of the Cancer Center, said Almond. “ ‘The Sweet Sounds of Success and Survival’ is a great way for people to enjoy themselves as well as help to support a worthy cause like the Cancer Center.” Almond is selling CDs at the event with one third of the proceeds also going to support the Cancer Center.
The evening’s fundraising activities take on a personal note for corporate sponsor Disciplined Financial Services, Inc. “As a two time cancer survivor it’s extremely important to me to support the Cancer Center personally and professionally,” said Kenneth Fockel, Co-Founder and Principal of Disciplined Financial Services, Inc., a corporate sponsor of the event. “By financially supporting events such as these, we continue to raise awareness for regular testing so that others can benefit from these services as well.”
Matt Soik, co-owner of the Melting Pot Restaurant and corporate sponsor pointed out that “we are privileged to have a high-quality organization like Froedtert Hospital and the Cancer Center which uses a patient-centric approach in providing care and support for our community.”
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 26,160 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed throughout Wisconsin in 2004 alone.
