MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that Precision Surgery, Ltd., Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County, will receive a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant loan from the Department of Commerce (Commerce). Precision Surgery, Ltd. is a startup business that will be producing a device used in spinal surgery.

“ My Grow Wisconsin plan calls for assisting technology entrepreneurs and helping them create new jobs across Wisconsin,” said Gov. Doyle. “I am pleased that we are able to assist Precision Surgery as it expands its business and creates new jobs for the Fond du Lac area.”

Precision Surgery, Ltd. will use the loan to create 10 full-time jobs and to patent an anterior cervical plate system. The anterior cervical plate provides internal stability of the cervical spine after trauma or surgery. The total project cost is $902,500.

Wisconsin communities have realized substantial benefits from the Community Development Block Grant for Economic Development program (CDBG-ED). Since 1985, Commerce has made more than 280 awards totaling over $100 million for economic development projects expected to create and retain over 10,000 jobs and leverage more than $270 million in private funds. Currently, 180 communities operate revolving loan funds capitalized by CDBG-ED project loan repayments. For more information, contact Jamie Wall at 608/267-0770.
