FENNIMORE – The Wisconsin Technical College System Board has a new president. Mary Quinnette Cuene was elected president during the Board’s meetings this week at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Cuene, an instructor at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, replaces Brent Smith, an attorney from La Crosse. “This Board has done a lot of great work and I’ve enjoyed being part of those accomplishments over the past few years,” Cuene said. “I’m privileged to be working with such a great group of individuals as we address the needs of our students and our economy,” Cuene said. Also, Kenosha County Executive Alan Kehl was elected vice-president and Secretary of the Department of Workforce Development, Roberta Gassman, was re-elected Board secretary. Smith and Peggy Rosenzweig, Wauwatosa, were appointed by President Cuene to round out the Executive Committee. Terms are for one year. The Wisconsin Technical College System has 16 technical college districts throughout Wisconsin, which offer more than 300 programs awarding two-year associate degrees, one- and two-year technical diplomas and short-term technical diplomas. In addition, the system is the major provider of customized training and technical assistance to Wisconsin’s business and industry community.
