Dept. of Workforce Development: Wisconsin Business Closing & Mass Layoff (WARN) Notices: Cordstrap USA Inc., & Uniek Inc.
Cordstrap USA, Inc., – Cordstrap USA Incorporated has notified the state that they plan to permanently reduce their workforce at their facility located at 2000 S. Sylvania Avenue #101, Sturtevant, WI 53177, affecting 36 employees. The first separations are expected to take place on May 1, 2018 with the remaining separations taking place on June 1, 2018. DWD and its partners at the Southeast Wisconsin Workforce Development Board will work with the affected parties to provide rapid response services.
Uniek, Inc., – Uniek Incorporated has notified the state that due to a reduction in manufacturing operations at their facility located at 805 Uniek Drive, Waunakee, WI 53597, they will be reducing their workforce by an anticipated 58 workers at this location. Separations are expected to commence on April 30, 2018 with final separations expected to occur no later than June 30, 2018. DWD and its partners at the South Central Workforce Development Board will work with the affected parties to provide rapid response services.
Workforce Development Dislocated Worker Services Summary
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Dislocated Worker Program provides transition assistance to workers and companies affected by permanent worker layoffs. The Program's local Rapid Response Teams help companies and worker representatives develop and implement a practical transition plan based on the size of the layoff event. Types of services include:
Workers affected by permanent layoff may also access basic re-employment services at no charge through the state's Job Centers. Some services, including training assistance, may be an option for some workers after enrolling in one or more of DWD's workforce development programs. While all companies faced with permanent worker layoffs are encouraged to seek assistance from the local Rapid Response Teams, some companies may be required to give 60 days notice before a mass layoff or closing under federal and/or state law.
