Hy-vee: Announces introduction of top-selling Blue Buffalo pet food

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Nov. 1, 2017) — A beloved family pet is the inspiration behind the best-selling line of wholesome, natural pet foods, BLUE Life Protection Formula, that Hy-Vee, Inc. is proud to begin offering in its stores.

Hy-Vee is partnering with Blue Buffalo, maker of BLUE Life Protection Formula, to offer its high-quality formula featuring natural ingredients at all 245 Hy-Vee stores. Wet and dry food formulas for both cats and dogs, along with healthy treats, are now available across Hy-Vee’s eight-state region.

“We’re excited to offer BLUE Life Protection Formula which sets a new standard in natural pet food and gives customers the opportunity to conveniently offer the most nutritious, natural ingredients to their four-legged family members,” said Jeremy Gosch, executive vice president of strategy and chief marketing officer for Hy-Vee. “We’re proud to partner with Blue Buffalo and the Bishop family, who are passionate about pet nutrition and share our goals of making our customers’ lives – and their pets’ lives – easier, healthier and happier.”

BLUE Life Protection Formula pet foods for cats and dogs feature real chicken, fish, or lamb, in addition to whole grains, garden veggies and fruit. Blue Buffalo is the only brand to offer LifeSource Bits ®, a precise blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidant-rich ingredients selected by animal nutritionists and veterinarians. No by-product meals, artificial flavors or preservatives are used in the special formula.

“Pet parents take pride in offering the perfect balance of holistic ingredients including real meats, wholesome grains, garden veggies and fruits, to their dog or cat,” said Bill Bishop, chairman and founder of Blue Buffalo. “We’ve enhanced this formula even further with the LifeSource Bits to make pets healthier and happier, and give their owners the assurance that their pet is getting the finest nutrition available.

“As we say, love them like family, feed them like family,” said Bishop, whose family was inspired to create the super-premium line of pet foods after their beloved large breed Airedale, Blue, struggled with cancer.
