MICHAEL BEST OPENS REGISTRATION FOR 27th ANNUAL LABOR & EMPLOYMENT SEMINAR

Milwaukee, WI (March 24, 2015) – Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Firm’s 27th Annual Labor and Employment Relations Law Seminar. The seminar will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, WI. This longstanding event, attended by more than 300 human resources professionals, business executives and legal counsel, will feature educational presentations by Michael Best attorneys and professionals. They will provide legal updates on a variety of labor and employment-related topics which attendees need to understand in order to lead and protect their respective organizations in 2015.

José A. Olivieri, chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group, has been involved with the seminar since its inception. “We are so pleased to host our annual seminar for the 27th consecutive year. This event is not only an opportunity for attendees to become more informed and well-equipped, but it also provides a great venue for collaboration amongst a variety of clients and contacts who are interested and experienced in labor and employment law,” said Olivieri.

The seminar will kick off with keynote speaker Steve Benzschawel, Director of Business World with the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. Benzschawel will address stereotypes and challenges in our current workforce environment in which four generations work side-by-side. He credits his experience working with more than 2,000 high school students each year as his inspiration for sharing his insights about the millennial generation. The keynote presentation will be followed by our Annual Labor and Employment Law Update, presented by Michael Best Partner Amy Schmidt Jones. Jones will succeed Olivieri as chair of Michael Best Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group this summer.

The seminar will then break out into a series of four sessions, each with three workshop topic options, conducted throughout the remainder of the day. These 12 workshops, all led by Michael Best attorneys, will include today’s hottest topics and key labor and employment issues for professionals across industries and organizations. Topics include discrimination law, employee benefits, union organization, immigration, trade secret protection, employment policies and procedures, cyber security, background checks, ADAAA, FMLA and more.
