WISCONSIN – Schenck would like to congratulate Shareholder Mark Hanson, CPA, CVA, ABV, for his appointment to The Appraisal Foundation’s Business Valuation Resource Panel.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., The Appraisal Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of professional valuation. The Foundation is directed by a Board of Trustees and is authorized by Congress as the Source of Appraisal Standards and Appraiser Qualifications.

The work of the Foundation is important to all disciplines of the appraisal profession as well as to the consumer public. The work of the Foundation benefits the appraisal profession by functioning to increase the quality of appraisals and by addressing issues critical to the advancement professional valuation. Users of appraisal services and consumers can feel confident that the Foundation is working to serve their needs and help protect their financial well-being.

The Appraisal Foundation’s Business Valuation Resource Panel reports to the Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Resource Panel is to provide a permanent forum for assembling representatives from diverse backgrounds, so that the Board of Trustees: 1) has a centralized ongoing facility for communication with representatives; and 2) benefits from information, advice and recommendations developed by this resource panel on issues relevant to business valuation. The Resource Panel, in addition to enhancing communication between the Board of Trustees and said discipline, will consider a number of professionally relevant issues, aimed at preserving/improving the public trust in valuation.

Hanson has been with Schenck since 1998. He has an extensive background providing business valuation services to clients for divorce, estate and gift tax, dissenting shareholder actions, mergers and acquisitions, purchase price allocations, and intangible asset impairment purposes. He performs analyses for economic losses for personal injuries, commercial damages, wrongful termination, wrongful death, and fraud.

Hanson is a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the North American Business Valuation Standards Board. He is also an active member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and has held positions on their Standards Committee, Executive Advisory Board, Ethics Oversight Board, Education Board, and the Representative to IRS Valuation Policy Council. In addition to serving on The Appraisal Foundation’s Business Valuation Resource Panel, Hanson has also participated on the Foundation’s Business Valuation Professional Tax Force.

Hanson has spoken on valuation-related issues all over the United States, and has penned numerous articles and educational courses on his areas of expertise. He received the 2011 Instructor of Exceptional Distinction award from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. He also received AICPA’s Certificate of Educational Achievement in Business Valuations.
