Quaker Steak & Lube: Restaurant uses “Red Solo Cup” for charity 5/3/2012 Quaker Steak & Lube Truck Night Every Friday New Berlin, WI. In the song “Red Solo Cup,” country singer Toby Keith proclaims “Red Solo cup, the best receptacle for barbeques, tailgates, fairs and festivals.” While these statements are quite true, there's one thing red solo cups can do that Mr. Keith forgot to mention—raise money for charity. On Friday, May 4th, “Red Solo Cup Truck Night” at Quaker Steak & Lube, 4900 South Moorland Road, will use the ubiquitous red Solo cups as a fundraiser. For every $5 cup of beer or Quaker Steak and Lube Lube N Ade, the New Berlin restaurant will donate $1 to Adoption Resources of Wisconsin. But in the song Keith also croons “Red Solo cup / I fill you up / Proceed to party / Proceed to Party,” and party is exactly what will occur. “Toby just wants everyone to have a good time, and that's exactly what Red Solo Cup Truck Night will do,” says Kusch, “Not only will we have the red cups, patrons are encouraged to bring and show off their trucks. Whether they have a small compact pick-up, or a full blown monster 4x4, all trucks, all years, all pickup truck models are welcome.” A festive and fun atmosphere will be evident at “Red Solo Cup Truck Night,” which will occur every Friday night starting at 5p, from May 4 to September 28 in the Quaker Steak & Lube parking lot. Selected nights will see local bands playing rollicking sets and every Truck Night will feature some great rides. Milwaukee-based musicians, The South End Blues Band, will kick off the festivities on May 4 as they raise their red Solo cup and play a thrashing blues rock set. “We really look forward to having everyone coming out and filling up that red Solo cup with charity.” Adoption Resources of Wisconsin offers information, training and support to families and adoption professionals all throughout Wisconsin. Since its inception in 1984, ARW has helped facilitate over 1,800 adoptions and hundreds of foster home placements. The original Quaker Steak & Lube was founded in 1974 and built in an abandoned gas station in Sharon, Pennsylvania as a cook-your-own steak restaurant. Today, The Lube® has won over 100 national and international awards for their wings and 21 different wing sauces, as well as serving award winning ribs. The Lube features unique décor items including Race Cars suspended from the ceilings, Motorcycles, Corvettes and Gas Station Memorabilia decorating the walls. |
