Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year: Awards program announces lifetime achievement award

Jim Haney, WMC president, to receive special award

Madison – The Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year (MOTY) Awards program has announced the inauguration of a special Lifetime Achievement Award, and will honor WMC president Jim Haney as he retires this year.

“I am humbled by this award,” said Jim Haney, retiring president of WMC and recipient of the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in Manufacturing. “Wisconsin is home to some of the greatest manufacturers in the world and I am privileged to have been a part of that community for so many years. It is an honor to be recognized for doing a job that I had so much fun doing.”

The sponsors of the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award program instituted the Lifetime Achievement Award in Manufacturing this year as a way to honor the individuals within Wisconsin’s manufacturing community that help push the industry forward.

“Jim has helped grow manufacturing in the state of Wisconsin throughout his tenure at WMC, and while working in the manufacturing industry before that,” said Tod Linstroth, senior partner and a member of the Management Committee at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, a sponsor of the MOTY awards program. “Jim is one of the most respected, honorable, humble men I’ve ever known and I am proud to represent Michael Best in recognizing him with this Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Celebrating its 23rd year, the MOTY program recognizes manufacturers of all sizes and industries for their contributions to the great state of Wisconsin. Manufacturers contribute to the vibrancy of Wisconsin and our communities through good business practices, innovative processes, and productivity enhancements. This program helps celebrate and honor the companies that have made Wisconsin the industrial powerhouse it is today.

“Jim’s involvement in the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year awards program has much to do with its ongoing success. It is with heartfelt appreciation and admiration that we honor him as a long-standing advocate for the industry and the important role it plays in our state’s economy,” said Tim Christen, CEO of Baker Tilly, one of the founding sponsors of the annual awards program.

The accounting and advisory firm of Baker Tilly, the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, and the business association Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce sponsor the MOTY awards program. Haney will be honored along with the MOTY award winners, selected by an independent panel of judges, at a black-tie banquet on February 24, 2011 at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
