Brookfield couple, Cousins Subs’ first franchisees, also earn Sales Leadership Award

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (December 15, 2010) – Cousins Subs® recently awarded Jim and Leah Valentine, who own six Cousins Subs restaurants in Waukesha County, with the 2009 Franchisee of the Year Award and the 2009 Sales Leadership Award. The Valentines have been Cousins franchise owners since 1985, and were the first franchisees in the Cousins Subs system.

The Franchisee of the Year Award is based on guest service, store operations, marketing, community involvement and financial success. The Sales Leadership Award is based on the store with the highest volume of sales for the year. The Valentines ranked high in all areas, according to Cousins Subs President and Chief Operating Officer Christine Specht.

“Jim and Leah Valentine do outstanding work and have an incredible dedication to Cousins Subs, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations for this well-deserved award,” Specht said. “The Valentines are tremendous representatives of our company, and we’re so proud to have them as part of the Cousins Subs family.”

The Valentines, who have earned Franchisee of the Year honors once before, own these Cousins locations:

* 17900 W. Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield

* 16005 W. National Ave. in New Berlin

* 1350 E. Capitol Dr. in Pewaukee

* 2320 E. Moreland Blvd. in Waukesha

“We are extremely proud and grateful to receive these awards,” Jim Valentine said. “Our family works hard every day to provide excellent guest service and quality products to our customers. These awards are a great honor for us, and we are very happy to be part of Cousins Subs.”

The awards were presented at the 2010 Cousins Subs annual meeting, with many Cousins franchisees in attendance.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs, based in Menomonee Falls in suburban Milwaukee, is a restaurant specializing in East Coast-style submarine sandwiches made with the finest ingredients served on a variety of freshly baked breads, along with salads, soups, chips and soft drinks. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East Coast-style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients. For more information, visit http://www.cousinssubs.com.
