The Wisconsin FFA Foundation has announced their 2010 SAE Grant Program is now accepting applications. The application can be found on the Wisconsin FFA website and must be postmarked by Dec. 1.

SAE is the experiential learning aspect of the three-part model of agriculture education. This component is where students apply their knowledge and skills to a hands-on project related to an area of agriculture. It can be entrepreneurial where the student has ownership, or it can be a placement project in which the student works for another entity.

“The SAE Grant Program is sometimes the only way these high school students have the opportunity to get funding to support an extremely important aspect of their career preparation,” says Nicole Nelson, executive director of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation.

“I’ve heard countless stories of how students have taken a $500 grant and developed a very successful enterprise,” Nelson added.

To be eligible for the grants, students must be a current FFA member between the ages of 14-18 during the current school year. Questions can be directed to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation at info@wisconsinffafoundation.org or 608-831-5058.
