Brown Deer, WI, Oct. 22, 2010 — Two physician leaders in cancer treatment, Dr. Lyle G. Henry and Dr. Anthony Linn; and a veteran healthcare administrator, Pamela Parker, will receive the Touching Lives Award from Horizon Home Care & Hospice in honor of their lasting impact on improving the lives of others. The three recipients will be honored at Horizon’s annual Matter of the Heart Gala in February.
“Each of these individuals, in their own way, has been a positive influence on healthcare in our community through periods of great change,” said Mary Haynor, Horizon Home Care & Hospice president and CEO. “Their dedication and commitment to the health of those in our community truly embodies the spirit of the Touching Lives Award.”
Dr. Henry, Board Certified in Surgery with a Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons, was one of the first surgeons to recognize the critical importance of a comprehensive community cancer center, specifically the need for multidisciplinary care for breast cancer patients.
“The outcomes for our patients and families have forever been changed at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital through Dr. Henry’s vision and tenacity over the years,” according to his Touching Lives Award nomination.
Dr. Linn, Board Certified in General Surgery and associated with Columbia St. Mary’s for 30 years, was cited for his long-standing advocacy of a quality program and his work with the Oncology Leadership Council and the Breast Steering Committee to identify appropriate indicators for measurement.
”Dr. Linn is a clear, logical thinker with the skill set to provide a steady leadership direction for physicians. He has a true talent for resolving conflict and leading others to mutually agreeable solutions,” said his nomination statement.
Parker, who recently retired as executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer of Community Memorial Hospital, completed a distinguished 47-year career of bringing the finest of healthcare services to the community. Under her guidance, Community Memorial has grown from a 61-bed community hospital to a 200-bed regional medical center offering the latest advances in medicine and state-of-the-art health care.
“Community Memorial Hospital exists as thriving healthcare organization because of the contributions of Pamela,” her Touching Lives Award nomination stated. “She had a direct impact on every service offered within the organization and within the community.
The Touching Lives Award was created in 2007 to honor the community’s most dedicated individuals. Horizon’s annual Matter of the Heart Gala is Feb. 19, 2011 at the Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee. The annual event raises funds for the agency’s Grief Resource Center, the state’s only free walk-in center dedicated to grief, bereavement and healing.
