Charter Communications: Wisconsin Charter employees win industry awards

Madison, WI – Three Charter employees have been recognized by the Wisconsin Cable Communications Association (WCCA) as among the best in the state.

Jeff Kuhnke, an Advanced Video Engineer in Charter’s Stevens Point location; Tim Normand, Director of Engineering for Charter in Wisconsin; and Tim Vowell, Director of Government and Public Relations for Charter in Wisconsin each received WCCA Awards of Excellence for 2010 at the WCCA’s recent annual convention in Sheboygan.

Jeff Kuhnke of Stevens Point, a ten year Charter veteran received the WCCA’s Award of Excellence for Technical Merit. Jeff developed an innovative process that makes it more efficient for Charter to make changes to its digital network. “Jeff likes to look at the big picture and figure out better ways to do things,” said Matt Kuester, Network Engineering Manager for Charter.

Tim Normand of Chippewa Falls, this year’s WCCA Award of Excellence winner for Meritorious Service, has served in the cable TV industry in Wisconsin for more than 40 years and has led a series of significant network improvement projects for Charter over the last several years. “Tim is highly regarded and respected by his peers as an advocate for our employees and our customers, as well as an outstanding mentor,” said Lisa Washa, Regional Vice-President of Operations for Charter. “He has designed and built the most advanced network at Charter to provide our customers with an excellent experience.”

Tim has been in the cable industry for 23 years and serves as President of the WCCA’s Board of Directors in addition to his role as Director of Government and Public Relations for Charter. “In the area of public affairs, nobody deserves this award more than Tim Vowell,” said Tom Moore, Executive Director of the WCCA. “Year in and year out, I’ve been able to call on Tim when needed to support our industry.”
