Madison, Wis. – First Lady Jessica Doyle and Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz joined Miron Construction and a second grade class from Franklin Elementary School in celebrating Arbor Day by planting a tree at the Goodman Park Maintenance Facility, the City of Madison’s first LEED certified building.
“Miron Construction has been committed to sustainability efforts, and this facility is a perfect example of that,” said Dennis Lynch, Vice President Healthcare Services & General Manager of the Southern Wisconsin Operations. “We’re very proud of the Goodman Park Maintenance LEED certification, and we’re excited the project is the first in Madison to receive this distinction.”
In November of last year, the 47,524-square-foot Goodman Park Maintenance Facility Additions & Remodeling project in Madison was awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification under the New Construction Green Building Rating System as established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute.
Miron was the lead contractor on the facility, which was completed in November 2007.
LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. This is the first project for the City of Madison to earn LEED certification.
