Madison, Wisconsin (April 7, 2010). Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that attorney Timothy J. Muldowney, a member of the firm’s Insurance and Litigation Practice Groups, has been named a Certified Arbitrator for the insurance industry by the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society (ARIAS-U.S.). Muldowney is the only Certified Arbitrator in Madison, Wisconsin, and one of very few in the state.

Muldowney brings over 30 years of experience to his role as a Certified Arbitrator, with clients ranging from Fortune 500 insurers and mutual insurance companies to government entities. He focuses his insurance and reinsurance practice on insurance coverage, construction defect, toxic tort and other long tail exposure cases. Muldowney is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) and serves on several of its committees, including the alternative dispute resolution, appellate practice, business litigation, class action litigation, insurance and reinsurance and international committees. Additionally, he served on the Board of Editors of The Defense Counsel Journal and the Wisconsin Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility Committee. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin with honors as a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the Order of the Coif.

A not-for-profit corporation, ARIAS-U.S. provides training and certification opportunities to ensure that arbitrators and umpires have the necessary skills to serve on insurance/reinsurance arbitration panels. The arbitration certification process requires an extensive application process as well as training and ethics courses, specialized industry and arbitration experience and recommendation sponsors. ARIAS-U.S. provides the certification process to assist clients in dispute resolution by serving as a resource to help parties find the appropriate resolution professionals to cost-effectively handle their disputes.
