A program incorporating wellness and an active travel itinerary for hikers, bicyclists and kayakers to explore the world will celebrate 25 years in 2010 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The UWSP Adventure Tours will mark the event by offering new U.S. destinations and introducing a new National Parks Series tour with Bike the Natchez Trace in October.

An anniversary celebration is also being planned for this summer in Stevens Point and all past participants and supporters are invited to attend. Since 1985, the Adventure Tours program has been traveling the globe on foot and by bike as healthy ways to travel and explore the world and its cultures.

Tours still accepting participants for this coming year include:

* Hike Vienna to Venice

* Hike the Grand Canyon

* Kayak the Apostle Islands

* Hike U.K. and Ireland

* Backpacking the Cowboy Way in Wyoming

* Bike the Natchez Trace

Alumni who have completed degrees at UWSP and current faculty and staff members will receive a five-percent discount on the total tour package (airfare not included in the total). In 2011, destinations include Alpine Skiing the French and Swiss Alps, Costa Rica Multi-Adventure, Biking Lake Konstanz in Europe, Hiking Austria, and the National Parks Series tours: Biking Central California-Sequoia Kings Canyon/Yosemite, and Multi-Activity Utah National Parks- Zion, Bryce and Canyonlands. Credit cards will be accepted starting with 2011 tours.

UWSP Adventure Tours is coordinated by the UWSP School of Health Promotion and Human Development. The tours are open to adults of all ages, and are uniquely designed to emphasize healthy travel through biking, hiking and adventure trips.
