Three veterans of the Milwaukee-area start-up economy will discuss their ideas for accelerating the region’s development in 2010 at the Thursday, Jan. 14 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Brookfield.
The meeting will take place at a new location, the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel, 375 S. Moorland Rd., Brookfield. The hotel is located a half-mile north of the I-94 interchange with Moorland Road.
Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for WIN members, Governor’s Business Plan Contest participants and BizStarts Milwaukee members, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. Ideas for improving access to capital, connecting start-up companies to other resources and building the region’s infrastructure will be discussed by three panelists. Wisconsin Technology Council President Tom Still will moderate. Panelists are:
* Jay Bayne, executive director of the Milwaukee Institute Inc., and founder and CEO of Meta Command Systems;
* Greg Meier, a serial entrepreneur who is co-founder of three tech-based companies; and
* Dan Steininger, director of Successful Entrepreneur Investors and vice president of BizStarts Milwaukee.
Also, mark your calendar for the Feb. 11 WIN-Milwaukee event, which will showcase a panel of investors forecasting the 2010 early stage market.
WIN is the membership arm of the Tech Council, the independent, non-profit science and technology adviser to the governor and the Legislature.
