Bridges on Highway N in Town of Dunkirk, Highway B in Rockdale Replaced
Work is wrapping up on a pair of Dane County bridge replacement projects entirely funded by federal stimulus funding. Dane County secured about $1.6 million in stimulus dollars for the work on County Highway N over the Yahara River in the Town of Dunkirk and County Highway B over Koshkonong Creek in the Village of Rockdale.
“These dollars were used the way stimulus funding was intended – on projects that secure good paying jobs for families and make our roads safer,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said.
The new bridge on Highway N just south of Stoughton cost about $600,000 and was recently opened to traffic. Work on the project started in August and was done by Concrete Structures of Janesville.
There is still some finishing work being done to the new bridge site on Highway B in Rockdale but the road is open to traffic. That project, done by Edward Kramer and Sons of Plain, also includes a separate path on the bridge for snowmobiles, bikes, joggers, and walkers.
