Platypus Technologies: New Oris Pro Cell Migration Assay

Madison, WI – Platypus Technologies announces the addition of the Oris Pro Cell Migration Assay to its product line of cell-based assays. The new Oris Pro Cell Migration Assay, which will be launched at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology (to be held December 6-9, 2009), uses a non-toxic biocompatible gel (BCG) to form a cell-free zone on cell culture surfaces. After seeding cells into the 96-well plate, the BCG dissolves permitting cells to migrate into the well centers. This new kit enables researchers to save time and cost by utilizing automated liquid handling equipment for fast set-up of high throughput assays. Researchers can capture and quantify real-time cell migration data using microscopes and High Content Screening (HCS) and High Content Imaging (HCI) instruments.

Cell migration is critical to a variety of in vivo processes including tumor cell metastasis, wound healing, and tissue regeneration. The new Oris Pro Assay complements the Oris line of cell migration assay products that utilize patent pending, cell seeding stoppers to create cell-free detection zones in the center of each well.
