Discover Mediaworks: Adds award-winning sales pros to broadcast division

Well-known industry veterans bring national contacts and new-media expertise

Discover Mediaworks, an industry leader in integrated communications, high-definition video and strategic media services, is pleased to announce that two award-winning sales professionals – Dan Havens and Sydney Porter – have joined the company. Havens and Porter have extensive expertise in business development and television advertising sales, and both come to Discover Mediaworks from distinguished careers working with well-known local and national clients.

Havens will serve as Senior Sales Manager for two popular Discover Mediaworks television series: Discover Wisconsin, the longest-running tourism show in the nation, and Family Inc., which premiered earlier this year on television stations around the state and is also developing a growing online presence. Havens brings to Discover Mediaworks a strong background in television station management, broadcast sales and sales training, and new business development for companies such as Marketron International.

Porter will serve as sales manager for Into the Outdoors, a children’s television show dedicated to educating kids about Wisconsin’s natural resources. Into the Outdoors has been seen on stations throughout Wisconsin and in neighboring states since 2001; the show recently won its sixth Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in children’s programming. Porter will also handle national sales for Trail Nation, a high-energy new series Discover Mediaworks launched earlier this year on sports networks throughout the Midwest. She comes to her new position as a well-known sales leader for Madison radio and television stations, and has worked with major clients in a wide variety of industries, including Hardees, US Cellular, Dodge and General Mills.
