Public Invited to May 21 Groundbreaking and Construction Launch Event

Madison, WI – After losing its building to a devastating fire, 4-C (Community Coordinated Child Care, Inc.) will officially break ground and celebrate a construction launch on a 9,100 square-foot building located at 5 Odana Court in Madison on Thursday, May 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Groundbreaking will occur at 11:00 a.m. Speakers will include Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and City of Madison Common Council Member Mark Clear. Jim McGaw of WMGN-Magic 98 will emcee the event. 4-C staff will be available until 2:00 p.m. to talk about agency services, the new building and opportunities for the community to support 4-C.

Children from Koala-T-Kare childcare center will also have a “mini-groundbreaking” (with shovels and pails) at the event symbolic of 4-C’s focus on children. 4-C has leased space in the building owned by Qualtim and Koala-T-Kare since August 2008. On August 13, 2008, the 4-C building located at 5 Odana Court in Madison, WI was destroyed in a fire. The fire resulted in a total loss of the building, which was owned by 4-C.

The new building is being supported by a capital campaign that will allow the agency to focus on services instead of financing a mortgage. Individuals or organizations making a donation of $250 or more will receive an engraved brick taken from the remains of the old 4-C building that burned down last August. This is the first time in the agency’s 38-year history the agency has looked to the community to help fund a formal fundraising campaign. For information on making a donation, visit http://www.4-c.org.
