CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – April 24, 2009 – Alliant Energy Corp. (NYSE: LNT) hosted the 3rd annual Supplier Diversity Symposium in Dubuque, Iowa today. Alliant Energy implemented the Supplier Diversity Symposium to encourage diverse suppliers to compete for Alliant Energy’s business. The company spent more than $100 million in 2007 and 2008 with minority and woman-owned businesses. The company anticipates spending over $60 million with diverse vendors this year and is looking to further increase the diverse vendor base.

“Our Supplier Diversity initiative has been successful because we’ve built solid partnerships with our minority- and women-owned businesses,” said Tom Aller, President-Interstate Power and Light (IPL). “We believe our partnerships are based on mutual respect and an understanding of needs. We feel the company benefits from the creativity and new perspectives diverse suppliers have to offer.”
