Organization elects new board members, confirms executive committee and officers

(Milwaukee, February 18, 2009) – United Way of Greater Milwaukee announced its 2009-2010 board of directors, executive committee and additional officers elected at the organization’s annual meeting held February 12 at We Energies headquarters.

The seven new board members elected to serve three-year terms include: Richard Abelson, executive director, AFSCME District Council 48, AFL-CIO; Byron Bergren, president and chief executive officer, The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc.; Linda Gorens-Levy, managing director, Stark Investments; Jon Hammes, chairman and chief executive officer, Hammes & Company, LLC; Jeff Joerres, chairman and chief executive officer, Manpower; David Ruiz, vice president and chief operating officer, Wisconsin District, UPS; and Greg Wesley, partner, Gonzalez, Saggio & Harlan LLP. In addition, David Gay, partner, Ernst & Young LLP, was elected to serve a one-year term.
