Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service: Organic farmers share 20 years together at the MOSES Organic Farming Conference

The 20th annual Organic Farming Conference (OFC) will bring thousands of organic producers to La Crosse, WI, on February 26 – 28, 2009. The OFC is organized by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) and is the largest organic farming conference in the country. This conference continues to be one of the primary sources of organic farmer networking, training and resource services in the upper Midwest.

Held at the La Crosse Center, the OFC will feature more than 60 organic farming workshops and 140 exhibitors. Attendees will eat outstanding organic meals and revel in quality entertainment, food and farming films, inspiring speakers and the opportunity to talk with many of the best and brightest organic farmers and farming advocates in the country.

MOSES is also honored to be host to two outstanding keynote speakers at the 2009 conference. Vandana Shiva, PhD, physicist and international environmentalist will travel from her native India to speak at the conference on Friday. Time Magazine identified Dr. Shiva as an environmental “hero” in 2003 and Asia Week has called her one of the five most powerful communicators of Asia. Dr. Shiva has pioneered the organic movement in India and has authored many books. Among her many awards are the Alternative Nobel Prize (Right Livelihood Award, 1993), Order of the Golden Ark, Global 500 Award of UN and Earth Day.

Dr. Alan Greene, California pediatrician and ardent advocate of organic food and children’s nutrition issues will speak on Saturday. He is the Chair of the Board for The Organic Center and on the Advisory Board of Healthy Child Healthy World. He is a founding partner of the Collaborative on Health and the Environment. In 1995, he launched DrGreene.com, cited by the AMA as “the pioneer physician web site” on the Internet. Dr. Greene is the author of a number of parent guidebooks.
