On June 11th, the Potbelly Wisconsin Team of 10 donned their protective eyewear and ear plugs and got lessons in home-building as they spent the day volunteering to help build a duplex in the Twin Oaks Subdivision in Madison, Wisconsin. After mastering the art of window pane and soffit installation, team members returned to their stores to host a fundraiser. On June 12th the three Madison-area Potbelly Stores hosted Free Sandwich Day fundraisers in which anyone who visited between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. received a free sandwich or salad. Simultaneously, Potbelly collected donations totaling $3,658 for Habitat for Humanity. Lastly, Potbelly donated lunch for the 30-plus volunteers working on the home on June 14th.

Potbelly Sandwich Works strives to give back as much as possible to its customers and its communities. This partnership is one example of that commitment. Annually, Potbelly supports more than 500 different organizations through Free Sandwich Day charity events, Fund Raising Nights, larger charitable efforts benefiting causes such as Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation and others.

“This event was a great way to connect with our local community,” said Colleen Madeya, Regional Marketing Manager at Potbelly. “It was an excellent opportunity for our team members to connect with one another outside of the work environment and while we were weary after a day of physical labor, we felt great about what we were able to accomplish for someone else. It was a very satisfying experience.”
