Milwaukee, Wis. – The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Network has been recognized for sustained excellence in patient experience, ranking in the top five percent of nearly 1,100 other United States health facilities. In addition, more than 95 percent of patients would recommend the Froedtert & MCW Cancer Network to family and friends.

The 2018 Guardian of Excellence Award from Press Ganey, a national company measuring health care organization performance, is based on responses from cancer patients who were surveyed on a variety of factors describing their treatment experience with the Froedtert & MCW Cancer Network.

“We understand how profoundly a cancer diagnosis affects our patients and their families, and everything we do is focused on easing that burden,” said Tina Curtis, executive director, Froedtert & MCW Clinical Cancer Services. “This award represents the voices of our patients, and we are honored and grateful for their confidence in us.”

The annual Press Ganey CG-CAHPS (Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey asks patients to rate areas of importance to them, such as availability of appointments, whether doctors and others on the care team show respect, listen and provide understandable information, how much time the care team spends with them, and test result follow-up. To qualify for award consideration, a facility’s overall survey results must rank in the 95th percentile or above for every quarter of the survey year. The 2018 award survey period covered May 2017- April 2018.

Part of the Froedtert & MCW regional health network, the Cancer Network sites are located in Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee, New Berlin, Oak Creek, Pleasant Prairie and West Bend.
