Foxconn announces contractors, designers

Foxconn has announced the contractors and designers for its high-tech campus in Racine County.

This LCD screen manufacturing facility is expected to bring over 13,000 jobs to Mount Pleasant, and Foxconn says hiring will begin within 60 days.

M+W Gilbane is a joint venture between M+W group, a German company specializing in high-tech facilities, and Gilbane Building Company of Rhode Island. Gilbane was involved with the recent Northwestern Mutual tower project in Milwaukee.

This joint company will serve as construction manager, handling budgeting, bids and the beginning of the physical groundbreaking process. M+W Gilbane plans to start putting out bid requests in the next several weeks.

The Sigma Group of Milwaukee will provide environmental consulting and engineering services for permitting, planning and design. Sigma helps customers manage costs while balancing concerns about pollution, health and safety.

CH2M Companies, a subsidiary of Texas-based Jacobs Engineering Group since late 2017, will provide Foxconn with engineering and architect services, including environmental permitting. Jacobs Engineering Group has extensive experience with integrated electronics projects related to flat panel displays, Foxconn says.

“Together, these three companies form a great team, and they will serve as instrumental local partners as Foxconn starts the construction of our advanced display manufacturing campus and science and technology park,” said Louis Woo, special assistant to Foxconn’s founder and CEO Terry Gou.

BizTimes Milwaukee had previously reported in January that Foxconn would select Gilbane for construction services.
