Old World Wisconsin: Breaks ground on a new machine shop

Eagle, Wis. – Old World Wisconsin has broken ground on a new Machine Shop in the Crossroads Village, which will provide modern restroom facilities for guests and be an interactive workshop space.

“This new space will let guests of all ages explore the intersections between history and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) within a 19th century rural Wisconsin community,” said Dan Freas, site director at Old World Wisconsin.

The workshop will feature changing table-top discovery stations designed for self-exploration by Old World Wisconsin guests and will provide a heated and air-conditioned space for occasional history and STEM programs. The exterior appearance of the Machine Shop is inspired by the many rural industrial buildings located throughout Wisconsin during the 19th century.

Construction will begin in November 2017 with completion scheduled to end in spring of 2018. Funding for the new building is through the generosity of Robert and Patricia Kern of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
