Urban League of Madison: Congratulates exact sciences, expands partnership

The Urban League would like to extend its congratulations to Exact Sciences on the successful groundbreaking earlier this week for their new lab facility at the former Spectrum Brands site! The lab will create at least 250 new jobs over the next few years, and Exact Sciences has committed to expanding their existing partnership with the Urban League to fill these positions. ULGM Board Chair Nia Trammell joined Kevin Conroy and Mayor Paul Soglin in sharing some remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday. This presents a perfect opportunity to leverage the new City of Madison Employment Center that the Urban League is operating just a short distance from where the new lab will be located.

Exact Sciences was one of five corporate partners that announced a combined gift of $410,000 last month to jumpstart a $2 million fundraising campaign that will honor the Urban League’s 50th anniversary and achieve our goal of 1,500 job placements by 2020. Congratulations and thanks to Kevin Conroy – who we are proud to count as a former ULGM Board Member – as well as City of Madison staff, Mayor Paul Soglin, Alders Mark Clear and Barbara McKinney, and many others. We look forward to our work together in the future!
