Appleton, Wisconsin – The Appleton Housing Authority (AHA) is pleased to welcome Alicia Ray as its new Family Support Specialist for its Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program.

In her new role, Ray is responsible for mentoring families participating in the AHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program who have the desire to become independent of all subsidies. Ray will work with clients to develop realistic goals as well as coordinate supportive service resources with other agencies to help eliminate any barriers clients may have, such as: continuing education, financial assistance, transportation, career exploration, job training, employment opportunities and access to childcare resources.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Ray holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree. She brings seven years of experience in forensic case management to her new position, including expertise in serving individuals and families in need of affordable housing and assistance connecting to community resource organizations.

The AHA is the largest provider of affordable housing options in the Appleton area, serving over 900 families per month. The agency has operated rental housing, homeownership and family self-sufficiency programs along with other key housing-related programs in the Appleton community for 50 years.

The AHA’s non-profit Neighborhood Housing, Inc. (NHI) organization is committed to affordable housing and the self-sufficiency of families, elderly, veterans and disabled individuals in the Fox Cities.
