New North, Inc.: Foxconn investment expected to have positive impact on New North region

NEW NORTH, July 27, 2017 – Wednesday’s announcement that Foxconn Technology Group will invest $10 billion by 2020 to build a world-class manufacturing campus in Wisconsin, creating 13,000 new jobs, was met with excitement by officials at New North, Inc., the regional marketing and economic development organization for the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin.

Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of New North, Inc., offered his assessment of what the announcement will mean for companies in Northeast Wisconsin, saying, “We congratulate Governor Walker and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for securing the world-class manufacturing campus of Foxconn for the state. We believe this investment will have positive effects throughout Wisconsin, including the New North region, and fits well with our legacy of advanced manufacturing.

“We recognize that Northeast Wisconsin companies now are trying to figure out how they can be a part of the Foxconn opportunity. Without question, Foxconn will have significant supply-chain needs, and new markets assuredly will open for New North companies across a variety of industries.

“The timing of the Foxconn announcement comes on the heels of our statewide expansion of the Supply Chain Marketplace earlier this year. We believe that this sourcing tool will be an excellent vehicle to make referrals once Foxconn finalizes its shopping list of needed services and materials.

“We encourage companies to enter a profile, at no cost, right now at www.WISupplyChainMarketplace.com.”
