Neighborhood Works Alliance of Wisconsin: ICYMI: Havenwoods Business Improvement District to hold a press conference to kick off the first BID sponsored Employer Assisted Homeownership Initiative in Milwaukee

Milwaukee: On Tuesday June 20th, 2017 the leaders of Havenwoods Business Improvement District #31 will be joined by Mayor Tom Barrett, to kick off Milwaukee’s first Business Improvement District sponsored Employer Assisted Homeownership program.

The Havenwoods BID is launching an Employer Assisted Homeownership program to answer the call for better workforce retention in Havenwoods. This BID is the first to support home ownership for Havenwoods employees. Using a model of financial and technical assistance, a two tier down payment program has been developed for employees that purchase a home in Havenwoods or the City of Milwaukee. Our housing education partner, Housing Resources Inc. will be providing home buying education to the applicants.

“The struggle to recruit and retain employees is real and longstanding. Our organization continues to look for methods to help address these workforce challenges. At the same time we are seeking to make a meaningful connection between business and community. Providing homeownership opportunities to employees is a great way to encourage a walk to work community.” says Stephanie Harling of Havenwoods Economic Development Corporation.

Special guests include EAH participating companies such as Terry Tuttle CEO of HellermannTyton, Julie McNamara of TMJ Innovations and Steven Hentzen of Hentzen Coatings, Trena Bond from Housing Resources Inc.
