New partnership aims to train 1,000 veterans per year by 2018

A new partnership between Rockwell Automation and ManpowerGroup aims to train 1,000 veterans per year by 2018 for advanced manufacturing jobs.

Blake Moret, CEO of Rockwell Automation, says this initiative will help to fill the growing shortage of workers in the manufacturing sector.

“Military veterans possess a unique combination of technical savvy and core work skills that makes them well-positioned for careers in today’s advanced manufacturing environments,” he added.

The program will expand upon Rockwell’s Engineer in Training program, which provides participants with hands-on laboratory experience.

A recent survey from ManpowerGroup shows that many U.S. employers see manufacturing as a growing industry poised to create more jobs, but that those jobs will require a higher level of skill to perform.
