KENOSHA, Wisconsin – June 9, 2017 – Ducks Unlimited partnered with Uline Corporation and numerous local supporters on May 23 for a Ducks Unlimited 80th anniversary celebration that raised more than $250,000 for wetland and waterfowl conservation.
The event was hosted by Dick and Liz Uihlein at Uline’s corporate campus in Pleasant Prairie. The evening showcased Ducks Unlimited’s ability to create public and private partnerships throughout North America to deliver on-the-ground conservation in Wisconsin and across the country.
Ducks Unlimited has protected, enhanced or restored more than 114,000 acres of wetlands and associated uplands in Wisconsin and more than 14 million acres across North America.
Keynote speaker was Ducks Unlimited board member Christine Thomas, dean of the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
“The 80th Anniversary dinner was an impressive celebration of the successful efforts of DU volunteers in building the undisputed leading organization in wetlands conservation,” Thomas said. “It set the stage for the next 80 years and beyond.”
Numerous local businesses and individuals sponsored the event, including Dick and Liz Uihlein, Uline Corporation, Townsend Construction, Ryan Incorporated Central, Zilber Property Group, CG Schmidt, Superwestern/Superexcavators, Next Electric, FCL Builders and Bob and Kim Spoerl.
“We were encouraged to see the business community answer the call to support Ducks Unlimited, and they stepped up in a meaningful way,” said Chad Navis, chair of the Kenosha Ducks Unlimited Chapter and lead event volunteer organizer.
