Madison, Wis. (March 27, 2017) – Edgewood College and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Madison are honored to receive Wisconsin Campus Compact’s 2017 Esther Letven Community-Campus Partnership Award.

The awards, announced earlier this month, recognize outstanding campus-community partnerships that produce measurable community impact as well as student growth and learning. The award honors partnerships that have successfully demonstrated a mutually beneficial, invested partnership between higher education and community.

Edgewood College and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Madison enjoy a unique relationship. Formed in 2005, that partnership has resulted in scores of students through the years volunteering at “St. Vinny’s” to address hunger and issues of poverty. One of the outcomes of this partnership is the creation of the College-sanctioned student organization “Edgewood College Friends of St. Vincent de Paul.”

Wisconsin Campus Compact is a coalition of college and university presidents and chancellors who are committed to strengthening civic engagement and service-learning partnerships between Wisconsin’s postsecondary institutions and the communities they serve.
