MILWAUKEE (October 5, 2016) – During the past 25 years Housing Resources, Inc., has helped more than 4,000 individuals and families purchase their own homes by providing quality home counseling services to prospective low- and moderate-income home buyers. In addition, the organization assisted more than 3,200 homeowners repair and retain their homes. “HRI prepares people for successful homeownership,” said HRI Executive Director Trena Bond. “While we have been able to make a significant impact on homeownership among low- and moderate-income buyers during the past 25 years, we also know there is much more that needs to be done to ensure that everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.”

Kathy Gentry, HRI board president, said, “As we look to the next 25 years, HRI has exciting plans to make an even greater impact on the local housing market. We plan to serve more clients both to create new homeowners and to help existing homeowners who are facing financial challenges.”

Increasing homeownership among low- to moderate-income buyers is critical, Bond said, because of the positive impact it can have on many other factors that impact families, such as managing health conditions, improving high school graduation rates and building wealth.

HRI was founded in 1991 to provide education and counseling services to low and moderate-income first time homebuyers. HRI is the only full service housing counseling organization in the four-county area, with satellite offices in Racine.
