The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that UW Health and Unity Health Insurance have joined the Chamber as its newest Gold Founding Member.

“We are excited to welcome UW Health and Unity Health Insurance as the newest gold founding members of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce,” said Jason Rae, executive director of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce. “The organizations have a long and dedicated commitment to serving Wisconsin’s LGBT population and creating an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of all patients and families.”
“We are proud to join the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce as a gold founding member,” said Shiva Bidar-Sielaff, UW Health Community Partnerships Director. “We believe in everyone’s right to health care, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We are committed to being an inclusive organization that provides exceptional, quality care to everyone, as well as an organization that celebrates the diversity of our patients, their families, and our workforce.”

UW Health is the integrated health system of the University of Wisconsin-Madison serving more than 600,000 patients each year in the Upper Midwest and beyond with 1,400 physicians and 16,500 staff at six hospitals and 80 outpatient sites, including University Hospital, UW Health at The American Center, American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Carbone Cancer Center. Unity Health Insurance, a UW Health-affiliated company, was formed in 1994 to provide community-based managed health care to more than 90,000 members throughout 20 counties in southwestern and south central Wisconsin.
In particular, for the past several years, University Hospital and American Family Children’s Hospital have been recognized as Leaders in LGBT Health Care Quality by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, two of only 496 selected health facilities in the entire country.
“We look forward to working with the entire UW Health and Unity Health Insurance teams as we continue to build a more diverse business community in Wisconsin,” added Rae.

The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and LGBT-allied businesses, corporations and professionals throughout the state of Wisconsin. It offers networking opportunities, business development efforts within the LGBT community, and educational programming to its members. The organization has more than 430 members from around the state. In 2015, the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce received the National Chamber of the Year Award from the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).
