Andrew Resnick, MD, Named to Leadership Roles at Froedtert Hospital and MCW
Andrew S. Resnick, MD, MBA, FACS, has been named chief medical officer of Froedtert Hospital and associate dean for clinical affairs-adult practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The appointments are effective August 1.
Dr. Resnick succeeds Lee A. Biblo, MD, who announced his decision to retire last July and will step down July 1. Dr Biblo, a practicing cardiologist, a professor of medicine and associate dean for clinical affairs at MCW, has served as the hospital’s chief medical officer since 2012. He joined the MCW faculty in November 2002.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Resnick will oversee the medical staff structure, physician and hospital activities in clinical research, and quality and resource management at outpatient and inpatient facilities for both the Medical College Physicians adult practice group and Froedtert Hospital.
Dr. Resnick joins MCW from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where he most recently served as chief quality officer and associate professor of surgery. He has more than 16 years of experience working with physician leaders and nursing leaders, creating collaborative improvement structures, helping run a complex operating room environment and leading the educational enterprise to improve quality.
His experience includes leading the development of inter-professional, unit-based quality teams to empower frontline staff as well as clinical and operational leaders to affect care quality and safety at the local level. He led creation of institutional teams to develop system-wide strategies to improve care in areas such as mortality, hospital-acquired infections, core measures and adverse events.
Dr. Resnick graduated from Dartmouth College, Yale University School of Medicine, completed a surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned an MBA at The Wharton School.
MCW’s adult practice, Medical College Physicians, has more than 1,200 physicians, advanced practice providers, and psychologists who deliver compassionate, expert care to adult patients across 38 medical specialties. Medical College Physician providers practice at five health systems, ten hospitals, and 38 clinics throughout Wisconsin.
