Madison, Wis. – With commencement activities taking place across Wisconsin this month, graduates from Wisconsin’s 16 technical colleges can be confident in their career prospects based on a recently released report. The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Graduate Outcomes Report shows a 93 percent placement rate for 2015 WTCS graduates.

The report is based on survey responses from more than 18,000 individuals who graduated from a technical college in 2015. Job placement rates for WTCS graduates have been 86 percent or higher for the last 17 years. With such a strong record, new graduates can feel confident in their ability to find their place in the workforce.

In large part, the positive results can be attributed to WTCS colleges’ partnership with local industry. “Each program area within our colleges has close ties to industry representing every sector of the state’s economy” said WTCS President Dr. Morna Foy.

The technical colleges prioritize developing Wisconsin’s talent through responsive curriculum, with employers serving on program advisory committees. This job-centered mission has roots in Wisconsin statute, which requires the technical colleges to provide individuals with the skills training necessary for full participation in the workforce.

“When you pair that focus with faculty who are connected to business and teach to industry standards, that’s a positive for students and employers,” said Foy. “It also accelerates Wisconsin’s economic growth.”
