MADISON- Those old car and booster seats sitting in the garage don’t have to collect dust any longer. On Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., American Family Children’s Hospital will host the annual Car Seat Recycle Day at Safelite Auto Glass at 302 West Beltline Highway, on the frontage road near the Alliant Energy Center.

“Car and booster seats that are more than six years old or those sold at garage sales and thrift stores are not safe because there is no guarantee that they haven’t been involved in a crash,” said Nicole Vesely, Safe Kids coordinator at American Family Children’s Hospital.

Volunteers will take apart the old car and booster seats and recycle the materials.

Car Seat Recycle Day is a partnership among the children’s hospital, the Safe Kids Coalition and AAA. Each year, hundreds of cars and booster seats are dropped off and recycled.
