(Green Bay) – The Port of Green Bay has received the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award for its increase in international tonnage during the 2015 shipping season. The award was issued by the
St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC), an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
This is the Port’s 12th Pacesetter award in recognition of an increase in international cargo. “The Port of Green Bay is honored to receive the Pacesetter award,” said Port and Resource Recovery Director Dean Haen. “This award shines a light on the value of commercial shipping, the increasing strength of the economy and the growth opportunities ports have to offer businesses.”
The Port of Green Bay moved 89,408.03 metric tons of international cargo through the Seaway in 2015, an increase of approximately 62,862.22 metric tons from 2014
The Pacesetter Award is presented annually to U.S. Great Lakes Seaway ports that register year-on-year increases in international overseas cargo tonnage shipped through the Seaway. The Port of Green Bay is one of only six ports in the country to receive the award for 2015.
